Visit the Country in 2022
Visiting the country from the city is a welcoming change. When you drive into Stanthorpe there are no traffic lights, 3 roundabouts in the main street and a warm country welcoming atmosphere. Leaving the Gold Coast in October 2021 and becoming a resident at Glen Aplin has been the highlight of my 2021 year.
The Granite Belt
Stanthorpe, the heart of the Granite Belt Wine Region, on the New England Highway just north of the NSW border. At 800 to 1,200 metres altitude it’s Queensland’s cool high country and ideal for growing apples and grapes!
Stanthorpe is Queensland’s premier wine growing region with 50+ wineries and nearly 40 cellar doors and it’s where all of Queensland’s apples are grown!
Reach Stanthorpe less than three hours drive from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Armidale, Dalby and Goondiwindi and two hours from Toowoomba.
Festivals
There are many festivals throughout the year, The Granite Belt area is very popular in the cooler months. The Air BNB are booked up, the fireplace is lite the warmth and ambience is felt. The country hospitality is different to the city hustle, walking into café, shops, wineries you will feel the warmth of friendship.
The first festival for 2022 is Apple & Grape Harvest Festival
February 25th to 6th March 2022

The Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival is one of Queensland’s longest running and most successful Festivals!
‘CRUSHING IT’ SINCE 1966!
The festival has been entertaining with it’s harvest celebrations for an incredible 54 years. The iconic grape crush events are a must-see and a lot of messy fun!
SATURDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2022 – BUSKING IN STANTHORPE
Sunday 27th February Italian Long Lunch
Join the fun as we celebrate the Granite Belt’s Italian heritage at the Italian long lunch – Banchetto Italiano! It’s a sit-down traditional Italian four-course lunch accompanied by a whole afternoon of riotous fun and live entertainment.
Grand Parade
A festival highlight is the Channel 7 Grand Parade which sweeps through Stanthorpe’s main street in a colourful celebration of community and the Granite Belt harvest. The parade runs along High and Maryland Streets from 2pm – 3pm.
Straight after the parade the marching and brass bands will all gather in the main street for a bands finale, from approximately 3pm.
The Food & Wine Fiesta
Three fabulous days, Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March, the main festival weekend. Bring a picnic blanket or find a festival picnic table under the trees in Weeroona Park and relax and enjoy the onstage entertainment and food & wine delights.
