In 2015, I made a decision that would change my life forever. I decided to fall in love with myself.
For years, I had been putting everyone else’s needs before my own. Somewhere along the way, I had forgotten about the most important relationship in my life — the relationship I had with myself.
I was living in a loveless, unhealthy marriage and had lost touch with the confident, happy woman I once was. I knew something needed to change, and that change had to begin with me.
So, I made a conscious decision to choose myself. To nurture my body, care for my mind, rediscover my passions and give myself permission to be a little selfish.
And that’s when my greatest love affair began.
Friends started noticing something different about me.
They would ask, “Debbie, what are you doing? You look so happy!”
With a cheeky smile, I would reply, “I’m having an affair!”
After watching their surprised expressions, I’d laugh and say, “An affair with myself!”
That little love affair became one of the most empowering journeys of my life.
Today, I am a woman who knows her worth, embraces her imperfections, celebrates her independence and understands that self-love isn’t selfish — it’s essential.
With more than 45 years of experience in beauty, wellbeing and caring for women, I have learnt that true beauty begins within. When we feel confident, valued and comfortable in our own skin, it radiates into every part of our lives.
